Shirelle Dashevsky shone with her coquettish sweetness and delightful stage presence
Jerusalem Theatre of Chamber Opera “Aeterna”; Jerusalem Theatre of Chamber Opera “Aeterna”
Shirelle Dashevsky graduated with awards as a pianist in the Ukraine and then as a singer from the Moscow State Pedagogical University having learned in Moscow from outstanding musicians such as the famous coloratura soprano Deborah Pantofel-Nechetskaya Maestro Igor Chichagov, Music Director of the Rosa Ponselle Charitable Foundation (USA), and in the master class of Anna Reynolds (Stuttgart Music Academy).
In Israel Shirelle continued to study baroque with Miriam Meltzer and operawith Rachel Shulov (Prof.of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance). In 2001, as a baroque singer, Shirelle took part in the Jerusalem Early Music Workshop with English mezzo-soprano, Catherine Denley and with Peter Harvey, one of the best known UK singers of baroque music. In 2002-2003 during the period of the Tel-Aviv Summer Opera Workshop, Shirelle studied with the well-known opera soprano Tatiana Odinokova.
Shirelle began her career as a singer and soloist at the Moscow Bach Center under conductor Sergey Miassojedov and also cooperated with Music Agency Composer. In Moscow, Shirelle met and worked with leading Russian musicians, for example Victor Felitsiant (violin, quartet) and Alexey Parshin, Professor of the Moscow Conservatory (Organ), among others. Working with The Troubadour Chamber Orchestra, Shirelle performed as a soloist and was recognized with a special diploma at the International Festival of Liturgical Music, Poland.
Finding her vita in Jerusalem (2000), Shirelle was invited as a soloist to the Jerusalem vocal ensemble Musica Aeterna, today the Jerusalem chamber choir. She has also successfully appeared, and was warmly welcomed by the public at numerous Israeli Festivals and musical events, and has sung with many well-known Israeli and foreign musicians and groups like the chamber choir Cantus Soloists, directed by Yoel Sivan, trio Aleph, the Jerusalem Festival Orchestra, Symphoniet of Haifa, the Apropo-Art group directed by Yuri Povolotsky, and Christian Curnyn’s Baroque Quartet (Early Opera Company, UK).
While continuing as a baroque and chamber music singer, Shirelle turned more and more towards the Opera. From 2003, when The Jerusalem Theater of Chamber Opera Aeterna Opera was founded, Shirelle was invited as a soloist and successfully appeared in the roles of m-lle Silberklang in L’Impresario, Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni by W.A.Mozart and Elisetta in Il matrimonio segretto by Cimarosa. Among new roles are Bess from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Blonde from Mozart’s Abduction from Seral. Her opera repertoire is constantly growing. Shirelle is presently preparing for the roles of Queen of the Night from The Magic Flute and Lucia in Lucia de Lamermur by Donizetti.
Continuing her Baroque career, Shirelle began to work with leading Israeli Baroque musician and harpsichord player Alexander Rosenblatt. In 2004 a unique Theater of Miniatures for Soprano and Harpsichord was born. Since 2005 Shirelle and Alexanderpresented exclusive programs like “London-Napoli-St.Petersburg”, “Baroque for soul”, “Far from triumphing court” . These programs received an enthusiastic welcome from the public in the concert halls of Netanya, Tiv’on, Ashdod, Latrun, Haifa and Jerusalem. The premiere of the unique program Heavenly Baroque took place at the “Helen Hall” in Ashdod in December 2007.
Acting
In 2006-2007 Shirelle played the role of the wife of beloved Israeli writer Ephraim Kishon in the television film Passion of Ephraim , apparently accepting no artistic limits. In 2007 Shirelle is appearing in the show ”The Noise of Ttime” of Jerusalem Literature Theatre Tarantas presenting new vocal cycle by Yuri Povolotsky.
Shirelle sings in nine languages. Besides for opera, baroque and chamber music her repertoire includes various musicals, romances and songs. Shirelle also performs music by Israeli composer Aaron Gurov, who was tragically killed in a terrorist act. She collaborates with Sarah Feigin, Haim Zur, Emanuel Val and other Israeli composers. Two new programs: “My favorites in Yiddish” and “Vocal pieces of Israeli Composers” are currently in preparation for the recording (please check site for the updates).
